TERM SURF LESSONS
Build skills, confidence, and ocean awareness
At Central Coast Surf Academy, our Term Surf Lessons offer a fun, safe and professional way for young surfers to develop their skills across a six-week program.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advancing surfer, our Term Surf Lessons are designed to help you thrive in the ocean – building your skills, confidence, and love for surfing.
Taught by our hand-picked team of professional, accredited surf Coaches, each session delivers expert coaching in a relaxed, supportive setting – while giving you experience in a range of real surf conditions.
Our Term Surf Lessons cater for ages 7 and up, with no previous experience or equipment required for beginners. Participants are grouped by skill level, from first-time foamboard surfers to intermediate fibreglass surfers, ensuring every student receives tailored coaching.
Developed by former World #5 professional surfer Amee Donohoe, our lessons focus on building solid foundations – from essential ocean safety and beach awareness to developing technical surf skills and riding unbroken waves.
Each week offers a dynamic and engaging expreience, with small class sizes, professional instruction, and a focus on individual progress in a fun, social environment.
Active Kids vouchers are accepted for Term Surf Lessons.
Depending on skill and experience level, participants will work on:
- Learn to Surf skills and techniques (warm-up, paddling, catching waves, standing up)
- Ocean safety, rip identification, and beach awareness
- Board control, riding broken and unbroken waves
- Positioning, wave selection, and line-up skills
- Performing basic and advanced maneuvers (bottom turns, top turns, cutbacks, floaters, re-entries, snaps)
- Competition strategies and advanced surf coaching (for elite participants)
Locations: Avoca Beach, MacMasters Beach, Copacabana Beach, Toowoon Bay, Shelly Beach, Terrigal Beach, Blue Lagoon
Duration: 1 hour lesson, once per week, for six weeks
Equipment included: Surfboard, wetsuit, rash vest (Intermediate surfers may bring fibreglass boards)
