Booking & Payment

How do I book and pay?

Click “Book Now” on the relevant lesson page, select your group size and date/time, then follow the checkout prompts to pay by credit card. You’ll receive an immediate confirmation email with your lesson details, these FAQs, and a link to our Waiver & Release of Liability form.

Can I gift a lesson?

Yes! Purchase a CCSA Gift Voucher online—valid for 12 months. Recipients redeem online and choose any lesson type.

Do you accept Active Kids vouchers?

Yes—we accept Active Kids vouchers for our 6-week Term Surf Lessons. Contact us to apply your voucher to your chosen term package.

Age Groups & Lesson Types

What age groups do you cater for?
  • Mini Groms (ages 4–8): Gentle, play-based introduction

  • Kids Group Lessons (ages 7–16): Structured skill progression

  • Adult Lessons (17+): No upper age limit—everyone’s welcome

Can I arrange private or corporate lessons?

Absolutely. We offer:

  • Private coaching (1:1 or small groups)

  • Corporate/team-building sessions

  • Contact us for custom pricing and availability.

What to Bring & Equipment

What should I bring to my lesson?
  • Swimmers/boardshorts (worn under wetsuit)

  • Towel & change of clothes

  • Water bottle (filtered refills available)

  • Personal sun protection (hat, reef-safe sunscreen)

  • We supply: surfboards, wetsuits, rash vests—and helmets for skate lessons.
Do I need prior experience or my own equipment?

No experience or gear needed! All boards and safety equipment are provided. If you prefer to use your own board, you’re welcome to—just let us know in advance.

What’s included in my lesson?
  • Qualified Surfing Australia–accredited coach

  • In-water instruction tailored to your level

How many students per coach?
  • Group lessons: max 14 students, 5:1 student-to-coach ratio

  • Private lessons: 1–2 students per coach

Where are your lessons held?

We run lessons at multiple Central Coast beaches. Common locations include:
Avoca · MacMasters · Copacabana · Toowoon Bay · Shelly · Terrigal · Blue Lagoon 
Your booking form lets you choose your preferred beach, subject to conditions.

Health & Safety

What if the weather or surf is bad?

We monitor conditions closely for safety. If we must cancel, you’ll be notified by SMS/email at least 2 hours before your lesson and offered either:

  • A makeup lesson; or

  • A full refund.

What if I’m running late?

If you’re more than 15 minutes late, please call us. We’ll try to fit you in, but sessions end on time out of respect for other bookings.

Are your coaches qualified?

Yes—our coaches hold:

  • Surfing Australia accreditations (Level 1 & 2)

  • Working With Children Checks

  • Senior First Aid & Bronze Medallions

  • We also run elite sessions with ex-pro surfers.

Changes & Cancellations

What is your cancellation & rescheduling policy?
  • Individual lessons: Reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your lesson via your booking link. Late changes forfeit the lesson fee—no refund or credit.

  • School & corporate groups: Cancellations made fewer than 5 days before the lesson incur a 15% fee. Cancellations 5 days or more in advance receive a full refund.

Special Notes

What should parents do during kids’ lessons?

Parents are welcome to watch from the beach. In our Mini Groms program (ages 4–8), parents join in the water under coach supervision to learn safety and support techniques.

What’s your COVID-safe policy?
  • All equipment is cleaned and sanitised between sessions.

  • Coaches maintain distancing during on-land briefings.

  • Please stay home if you’re unwell or showing COVID symptoms.

What if I lose my booking confirmation?

Email centralcoastsurfacademy@gmail.com, and we’ll resend your confirmation immediately.
